The family wanted a space where the teenage daughters could retrieve to be with friends away from the adult world. They got a lot more than that...

An area of "services" containing a kitchenette and a new bathroom was added so that the basement could be used independently from the rest of the house. Two sliding doors were added in order to let the natural light inside, one of them opens towards an exterior deck that hungs inside the forest outside. 

The result is an open and light multipurpose room that complements the house as a whole.
